  • What

Outdoor education is on the rise in Europe and beyond and there is an emerging trend of integrating outdoor learning activities in formal education and bringing outdoors inside. Not only does outdoor education help students become in tune with their surroundings and gain and appreciation for the natural world, it also plays an important part in bringing what they learn in the classroom into real life through application and observation and highly contribute to their personal and social development.

This course is designed to provide teachers and other education staff with the basic skills and tools to lead a range of group exercises and challenges, problem solving games, experiential activities in the nature, on school sites, in local parks as well as in urban settings.

The outdoor educations course for teachers aim to provide participant with tools, ideas and best practices as well as practical experience and first-hand knowledge on how to integrate outdoor education in formal education.

The general aim of these courses is to foster excellence and innovation in education by equipping teachers and education staff with the basic knowledge and skills to integrate outdoor education activities in their education programmes.

Target group

Target group for this course are teachers, trainers, educational counsellors, career counsellors, school psychologists, headmasters, school management and administrative staff working in either primary schools, secondary schools, VET schools, training centers, adult education, higher education, kindergarten and NGO’s.
Please be aware that the course may include teachers from different school levels.

Language

The course is organized in English
  • We start om Monday morning at 09.00 o’clock and end on Friday afternoon by 15.30 o’clock.
  • A course day has two sessions, 09.00-12.00 and 13.30-16.30 h. every time with a coffee break.
  • The sessions can comprise input, lectures, theoretical background, personal and group exercises,training, transfer exercises, school and study visits, discussion, collegial or professional dialogue and exchange of ideas.
  • During the course, there is also a cultural visit.
  • A detailed programme will be published several months before the course takes place.
  • Get acquainted the key elements and growing trends related to outdoor education and teaching outside the classroom
  • Learn and discuss the principles and the cultural aspects of outdoor education
  • Learn how to design, plan and deliver inspirational outdoor education activities
  • Experience and practice environmental and outdoor education working methods and approaches
  • Get to know and experiment practical activities and group games that could be used and integrated in a real course
  • Learn how to use outdoor education for personal, social and relational development
  • Exchange best practices and share experiences about outdoor education with teachers and education staff coming throughout Europe
  • Network with individuals and organizations working in the education field in Europe through everyday cooperation and team-building activities.
  • Practicalities

The course is organized on different locations: University of Valencia and at the visited schools.

There is a very easy access from the airport to the city centre with the metro.

– You can request an Erasmus Plus grant from your national agency which will cover almost all costs of this course.
– We can guide you through the process of funding and application. To do so, you need the make a pre-registration.
– After pre-registration, we’ll contact you by mail and provide the application help.

TAXI FROM AIRPORT TO HOTEL

– There is a taxi service at the airport that can drive you to your hotel. The normal price is about € 20.

METRO

– You can take the metro located in the airport and leave the metro at the station closest to your hotel. Cost is approximately € 3.90 for the journey. Please find a metro map of Valencia right HERE.
